No. 58 He is Just the Same as Then

Verse 1:
Have you heard of the wonderful Jesus,
The light of the world above;
How He came to a world of sorrow
To tell of the Father’s love?
He is just the same as then, today,
He is just the same as then;
With His love and light,
He would enter thy soul,
He would make thy life all bright.

Verse 2:
Have you heard how He loved the children?
How He folded them to His breast?
Of His call to the weary-hearted,
With its promise of peace and rest?
He is just the same as then, today,
He is just the same as then;
In His strong arms of love,
He would carry His child,
And bear to the home above.

Verse 3:
Have you heard how He wept at Bethany,
In their sad bereavement hour,
How He gave them back their brother,
In His wondrous love and power?
He is just the same as then, today,
He is just the same as then;
He would call from the tomb
All its buried hopes
To jewel thy heav’nly home.

Verse 4:
Have you heard how He stilled the tempest,
How He made the sea at rest,
How He cast out the fierce demoniac,
How He calmed each troubled breast?
He is just the same as then, today,
He is just the same as then;
He will speak “peace, be still”
To thy storm-tossed soul,
If you yield it to His will.

Verse 5:
Have you heard of His conquest at Calvary,
Of His grand triumphant cry?
It is glorious to live as the Savior lived,
It is grander still to die;
He is just the same as then, today,
He is just the same as then;
He would bear you aright,
Through your trials here,
You might triumph by His might.
