No. 82 Do It To-Day

As you can see, the words “today” and “tomorrow” were in the hyphenated stage of becoming one word from two.

Verse 1:
If we only knew the good we could do,
In this world of sin and sorrow,
We would not delay, but do it to-day,
And never wait for to-morrow,
No, never wait for to-morrow,
No, never wait for tomorrow;
But do it to-day, and never delay,
And save a world of sorrow.

Verse 2:
Any cheering word, in gloom that is heard,
By a heart that grief would borrow,
May lighten the load, and brighten the road;
So,never wait for to-morrow,
No, never wait for tomorrow,
No, never wait for tomorrow,
No, never wait for tomorrow;
But speak it to-day, and never delay,
‘Twill lift the clouds of sorrow.

Verse 3:
And a loving smile, some heart may incline
To the path that’s straight and narrow;
A kind, friendly deed to one in his need
Is better now than to-morrow,
Yes, better now than to-morrow,
Yes, better now than to-morrow;
So, do it to-day, and never delay,
And save a world of sorrow.
