No. 114 Light Beyond

Verse 1:
Oh, how oft the feet grow weary,
And how often we despond;
How sometimes the life grows dreary,
As we sigh for joys beyond.

Refrain:
Trembling soul, thy Father loves thee,
Why despond, oh, why despond?
Tho’ clouds be dark above thee,
Trust in Him, there’s light beyond.

Verse 2:
When the brightest hopes are cherished,
And our expectations fond,
Prove to be but broken cisterns,
Trust in God, there’s light beyond.

Verse 3:
When the grave receives our lov’d ones,
Sev’ring sweet affection’s bond,
Look to heaven, there is sunshine,
Trust in God, there’s light beyond.

Verse 4:
When the darkness overspreads thee,
And no joy on earth is found,
Upward turn thy weary spirit,
Trust in God, there’s light beyond.
