No. 145 God is Love

Isn’t this the sweetest little preschool song? The book it is from must be rather old; the hymnal I am getting the hymn from was published in 1894 and it borrowed the song from a hymnal so old that “songbook” was a hyphenated word. I will have to see if I can get my hands on it.

Verse 1:
Do you know what the dewdrops say,
As they sparkle at break of day?

Refrain:
It is love, love, love,
Our God is a God of love.
It is love, love, love,
Our God is a God of love.

Verse 2:
Do you know what the sunbeams bright
Are singing from morning till night?

Verse 3:
Do you know what the soft rain tells,
As it tinkles like fairy bells?

Verse 4:
Do you know what the winds proclaim,
As they rustle the golden grain.
