No. 158 I am Waiting, Dear Jesus, for Thee

Verse 1:
I am waiting for Jesus to welcome me home,
To the place He has gone to prepare,
To the mansion of light and the robe, pure and white,
To the harp and the crown for me there.
Waiting, waiting, I am waiting, dear Jesus for Thee;
Waiting, dear Jesus, yes , waiting for Thee.

Verse 2:
How I long to be roaming the blest fields of light,
With the dear, loving children of light;
And to sing the sweet song as we’re marching along,
Of redemption thro’ Jesus’ might.
Waiting, waiting, I am waiting, dear Jesus for Thee;
Waiting, dear Jesus, yes , waiting for Thee.

Verse 3:
Many loved ones have I in that beautiful land,
They are watching and waiting for me;
And they beckon me o’er to that bright happy shore,
There the beauties of heaven to see.
Ever, longing, all the beauties of heaven to see.
Ever I’m longing, dear Jesus, I’m longing heaven to see.

Verse 4:
Roll along, then, sweet moments, and bear me away
To my beautiful home in the sky,
To the land of the blest, where I sweetly shall rest
In the palace of Jesus on high.
Ever, longing, all the beauties of heaven to see.
Ever I’m longing, dear Jesus, I’m longing heaven to see.

No. 52 Seeking for Me

Verse 1:
Jesus, my Savior, to Bethlehem came,
Born in a manger to sorrow and shame,
Oh, it was wonderful, blest be His name,
Seeking for me, for me,
Seeking for me, seeking for me,
Seeking for me, seeking for me;
Oh, it was wonderful, blest be His name,
Seeking for me, for me.

Verse 2:
Jesus, my Savior, on Calvary’s tree,
Suffer’d and died, and my soul He set free;
Oh, it was wonderful, how could it be?
Dying for me, for me,
Dying for me, dying for me,
Dying for me, dying for me;
Oh, it was wonderful, how could it be?
Dying for me, for me.

Verse 3:
Jesus, my Savior, the same as of old,
While I did wander afar from the fold,
Gently and long He hath plead with my soul,
Calling for me, for me,
Calling for me, calling for me,
Calling for me, calling for me;
Gently and long He hath plead with my soul,
Calling for me, for me.

Speed Away

Verse 1:
“Speed away, speed away on thine errand of light,”
Sweet message of Christ, in thy radiant flight.
The earth lies in darkness, the deep shadows fall
On sad hearts and homes. Oh, speed at our call,
Pierce the gathering clouds with thy luminous ray:
Speed away, speed away, speed away!

Verse 2:
Speed away, speed away on thine errand of love,
Go speak to the mourners of mansions above;
To the doubting bring peace, to the weary, sweet rest;
To the homeless a glimpse of the home of the blest;
Let angels and men Thy glad wonders portray:
Speed away, speed away, speed away.

Verse 3:
Speed away, speed away, let the shout peal along,
Triumphant in faith, and melodious in song;
Go, heralds of Jesus! the message proclaim
Christ liveth and reigneth, go forth in His name;
“Up! onward! let nothing your mission delay:”
Speed away, speed away, speed away!

The Palace of the King

Verse 1:
O daughter take good heed
Incline, and give good ear;
Thou must forget thy kindred all
And father’s house most dear.
Thy beauty to the King,
Shall then delightful be:
And do thou humbly worship Him,
Because thy Lord is He.

Refrain:
With gladness and with joy,
Thou all of them shalt bring,
And they together enter shall
The palace of the King,
The palace of the King,
The palace of the King;
And they together enter shall,
The palace of the King.

Verse 2:
The daughter then of Tyre
There with a gift shall be,
And all the wealthy of the land
Shall make their suit to thee,
The daughter of the King
All glorious is within;
And with embroideries of gold
Her garments wrought have been.

Verse 3:
She cometh to the King
In robes with needle wrought;
The virgins that do follow her
Shall unto Thee be brought.
With gladness and with joy,
Thou all of them shalt bring,
And they together enter shall
the palace of the King.

Verse 4:
And in Thy fathers’ stead,
Thy children thou shalt take,
And in all places of the earth
Them noble princes make.
I will show forth thy name
To generations all:
The people therefore evermore
To Thee give praises shall.

Psalm 45:10-17/Dr.J.B. Herbert

I am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus

Verse 1:
I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
Trusting only Thee!
Trusting Thee for full salvation,
Great and free.

Refrain:
I am trusting,
Trusting only Thee!
I am trusting, trusting,
Trusting only Thee.

Verse 2:
I am trusting Thee for pardon,
At Thy feet I bow;
For Thy grace and tender mercy,
Trusting now.

Verse 3:
I am trusting Thee for cleansing
In the crimson flood;
Trusting Thee to make me holy
By Thy blood.

Verse 4:
I am trusting Thee for power,
Thine can never fail;
Words which Thou Thyself shalt give me,
Must prevail.

Verse 5:
I am trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
Never let me fall;
I am trusting Thee for ever,
And for all.

Waiting for the Promise

Verse 1:
We bow our knees unto the Father
Of Christ, the Lord of earth and heaven,
That riches of His grace and glory
And pow’r for service may be given.

Refrain:
We are waiting for the promise of the Father–
For the Holy Spirit’s power;
O our Father, for Thy Spirit we are waiting, even now, this very hour.
We are waiting for His coming,
We are waiting for His coming,
For the Holy Spirit’s power;
O our Father, for Thy Spirit we are waiting, even now, this very hour.

Verse 2:
O fill the inward man with power,
As Christ within our hearts doth dwell;
Our root in Him, tho’ storms may lower,
Victorious love we still shall tell.

Verse 3:
The love that passeth knowledge give us.
Its height and depth and breadth and length;
Abundantly beyond our asking,
Beyond our thought give us Thy strength.

Verse 4:
Thy pow’r it is that worketh in us,
O multiply it here today,
And Christ, our Lord, shall have the glory
Within His church thro’ endless day.

Guide Me

The familiar repeating of the last line, along with the rest of the title, “O, Thou Great Jehovah” had apparently not yet been added to this hymn in 1892.

Verse 1:
Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim thro’ this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand:
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me til I want no more.

Verse 2:
Open now the crystal fountain,
Whence the healing waters flow;
Let the fiery, cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey thro’:
Strong Deliv’rer, Strong Deliv’rer,
Be Thou still my strength and shield.

Verse 3:
When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Bear me through the swelling current,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side:
Songs of praises, Songs of praises,
I will ever give to Thee.

W. Williams/Wm. L. Viner
